This Kangaroo Gravity Tube Feeding Set is nonsterile. It is designed with a large Easy Cap opening, tubing with a roller clamp below the drip chamber, 1000ml bag with temperature control pouch, non-IV compatible connectors, and large printed graduations. Feeding tubes are not painful and are not easily visible when wearing normal clothes (other than tight-fitting tops). If the only nutrition is being taken this way, you may experience some heartburn. Feeding tube is 16 inches long (41cm) and approximately 3/32 inches (2.7mm) outside diameter. It is best to store your feeding tube and syringe at normal room temperature. In colder temperatures the feeding tube will become rigid and stiff. At body temperature, the tube becomes softer, resilient, and completely flexible. Syringe is 35cc and attaches to the integral funnel end of the feeding tube. The opposite end of the feeding tube has a closed rounded tip with 2 side port 'eyes'. This is the same syringe and feeding tube that we use here at Leerburg® Kennels. A PEG feeding tube can last for 1-2years. You can discuss changing to a lower profile feeding tube after 3 months. Most children are admitted for daycare surgery to have the PEG tube removed. The adapters (at the end of tube) sometimes leak - they can be easily changed (once a month). We recommend taping the tube to the abdomen to stabilize the tube.
