The pipe is decorated with a pair of horses hand carved on a mineral (hydrous magnesium silicate) mined near the town of Eskisehir in Turkey. The magnesium silicate is one of the most porous substances existing in nature and is called meerschaum (sea-foam) in German. Many upper and middle class houses had a smoking room where the man of the house could contentedly smoke a pipe or cigar.

These meerschaum pipe are just the thing for carrying around in the top pocket of your suit. Almost a mini-pipe, but with a generous enough sized bowl to give a good sized smoke. There is a primitive metal re-useable tar trap between the briar stem and the bakelite. Made from very well finished briar, only what you would expect out of one of Englands most famous pipe makers.
